Press Release - mckinley|resource ready for new age discrimination laws
15.09.06“as acas chair rita donaghy warns that time is running out for organisations to get to grips with the new age discrimination rules and what they will mean in practice, I am pleased to say we are ready” announced martin dangerfield, director of leading executive and IT recruitment organisation mckinley|resource.
“the new rules are going to hit the recruitment industry hard and those that are less prepared are going to find it difficult to stay out of trouble. at mckinley we support the view that employment should be based on talent and skills, regardless of age, ensuring that that businesses get the best people for the job.”
the new rules, which make it illegal to discriminate against anyone in the work place based on their age, affect every area of employment from recruitment to retirement and come into force on 1st october 2006.
“we already ensure that all our advertising and executive search activities are based on experiences and skills rather than how old people are and how long they have been doing particular tasks. looking out in the marketplace it is clear that our competition is not so well prepared. we have taken this approach to support our extensive client base ensuring that they too are compliant with the new legislation.”
